Iwaki Future Exhibition Built through Battery Power

On March 28, 2015, together with the Organization for Iwaki Battery Valley Promotion, we staged “Iwaki Future Exhibition Built through Battery Power” as an event to commemorate the founding of the said organization at Granpalty Iwaki.

The Organization for Iwaki Battery Valley Promotion was established with the goal of realizing a “Battery valley” – a conglomeration of battery-related industries in Iwaki.

Prior to the ceremony, there was a display of the world’s first fuel cell electric vehicle “MIRAI” made by Toyota Motor Corporation, hands-on experience of the Honda UNI-CUB, and displays of NOLO drones and so on, giving numerous citizens the opportunity to come into contact with cutting edge technologies equipped with batteries.
In the commemorative speeches given at the ceremony, Mr. Minoru Noguchi of Honda R&D Co., Ltd., Mr. Yoshiaki Nitta of Nissan Motor Corporation, and Mr. Masato Komatsuki of Toyota Motor Corporation gave talks on the theme of, “Future Prospects for Storage Batteries in Vehicles”.

The speeches were followed by a panel discussion on the theme of “Creating the future for local industry”, in which the participants discussed the role of batteries in promoting renewable energy and robot-related industries.
